My little newbie blog received its first mention by an established blog this past week.
All thanks to Sandy, over at You May Be Wandering.
Her blog is gorgeous, and full of all kinds of tips and tricks for travelling.
But, it's more than that.
She is witty, has brilliant ideas, and her enthusiasm for the world around her really does come through her writing.
This photograph started it all:
Dome of St. Peter's Basilica, from inside Vatican |
I have followed this blog for a while {officially, only recently...
but I've been a non-creepy lurker for some time}.
I was charmed at first glance when I read the "About Me" segment.
She points out that while most people love to travel, not everyone enjoys planning. She writes, "I, however, love the planning a trip almost as much as I enjoy the actual trip. Before even the shortest road trip, I spend hours researching the best place to have lunch or which museum is a must see."
I understood completely.
C.S. Lewis famously said, "Friendship is born at the moment when one person says to another 'What! You too? I thought I was the only one."
As an elementary school student, I somehow obtained a list of the addresses for the department of tourism for all 50 states. I sat down, with notebook paper and a pencil, and wrote to every single one of them requesting information. {we didn't have cable, which probably explains a lot...} My parents helped me set up a little filing system in their home office to organize my materials. When I received the general State information, I would then write the offices of specific parks or hotels or historic sites seeking information.
I wasn't going anywhere.
I was 10.
That didn't matter, I loved every minute.
I was planning.
I haven't changed. Before a recent big trip, planning became my part-time job. Happily.
Here are a few photos from that trip:
Last week, Sandy published a series on Rome.
I commented on a post, one thing led to another, and not only did she use a few of my photographs, she generously gave The Farm Files an awesome endorsement.
Best of all, she encouraged me to continue sharing glimpses of the wedding planning.
{not that I need much encouragement...}
Pop over and read the post, here.
Also, do yourself a favor and check out her entire blog.
She'll have you daydreaming, reminiscing, and planning in no time!
Thank you Emily for this thoughtful post!! You are correct - we are kindred spirits! I am looking forward to many future posts from you - I love the way you write.

I, too, want more on the wedding. I love to see the planning process! I look forward to each new post about anything you are going to tell us about the wedding, the farm, or the fashion!
